MELANIE & JEFF

I recently had the complete pleasure of second shooting with Kim Bova for Melanie & Jeff’s wedding.  Held at Amarante’s Sea Cliff in New Haven the event  was filled with sunshine, sunflowers and a bridal party of 19 that toughed out the chilly wind for some seas side photos.  Here are some of my highlights from the afternoon.  Congratulations Melanie &  Jeff!

COME SPRING

Every year in March I  wander the greenhouse at Elizabeth Park during their Spring flower show.  And with each visit I give myself a new photographic challenge.  This year was to use a macro lens and capture the water droplets that still cling to the petals after the early morning watering.  It was great fun, quite a challenge, visually rewarding and the smell…devine.  Pure bliss after this winter we went through.  Come Spring!

COMING SOON…

My friends are expecting a baby verrrryyyyy soon.  I took these photos a few weeks ago of the family as they await the arrival of their baby boy.  Love and excitement surround him already.  I can’t wait to meet him.

CARISSA & ART

Carissa & Art’s wedding is at the top of my favorites list.  Every detail was filled with love and intent.  Nothing but pure sunshine on top of Manchester’s beautiful Wickham Park.  The ceremony was as much a marriage of a family as it was a marriage to each other.  It was moving and thoughtful and so very Carissa.  I cried.  Ok, I know that’s not huge news but I could not contain myself as I photographed the ceremony.  I am deeply thankful for autofocus!  Congratulations Carissa & Art…and the family!

KERRI POWERS

I was wowed the other day during a crazy cool shoot I had with local musician, singer-songwriter & artist Kerri Powers.  We had a great time downtown at the train station and Bushnell Park. Talented, grounded and OMG gorgeous!  Kerri also indulged my love of shoe shots.  And for that I will love her forever.

THE MAINE EVENT

A few weeks ago, I had the complete pleasure of spending some time with an old friend I rarely get to see.  She has lived far away for decades now but visiting Maine and I was able to be a part of it over a weekend.  My friend Paul and she and I used to live in the same neighborhood and hung out together but it’s probably close to 30 years since the 3 of us had been in the same room together. Nothing has changed but the lines on faces.  There was instant laughter and the years melted away.  She was there with her husband and two lovely daughters.  And the home where we stayed? I’m speechless.  It’s beauty spread across a peninsula into the ocean and was surrounded by rock and beaches.  It was so, so….Maine.  It was breathtaking and I felt like a kid exploring again with Paul. Rock jumping, climbing and trekking along  deer paths, brambles and bushes.  Followed by clambake, lounging, drumming and singing till 2 am.  Bliss.

MOUNTAIN TOP WEDDING

Last weekend I had the great pleasure of second shooting for an extraordinary visual artist/photographer Michelle Gardella.  Michelle said “Jean, it’s a wedding up in the mountains”…..translation…”Jean, you’ll be shooting on a chair lift 80 feet off the ground”.  WOW!  Perfect weather, stunning views, thrilling ride and quite a challenge.  Worth every shake and quake I had on that swinging lift chair.  The bride learned of my love of shoe shots and happily obliged.  And in turn, I controlled myself and did not burst into “The Sound of Music” when we reached the peak. Congratulations Melissa & Dan and thank you Michelle for a great experience!

COLOR MY WORLD

My neighbors had a very colorful mishap.  Bummer for them.  FUN for me.  And I noticed that they aren’t the only ones decorating our street.

It reminded me of the lava flowing over the streets in Hawaii.

WELCOME BABY EMME

There’s been a beautiful new arrival.  Mari & Rob welcomed Emme into the world a couple days ago.  I got to meet her today. :)

The assigment….a request from Dena to come to a gathering and catch some loving moments while the generations of family celebrated the baptism of their latest beautiful addition, Ava.  What a piece of cake!  The love was everywhere I turned in this festive yard on the hottest day in June.   They welcomed me in to photograph and participate and I soon felt right at home.  It was a fun afternoon of generations sharing.  I could have filled the blog pages with my favorites there were so many, I smiled the whole time I edited this shoot.  Here are a some highlights.
